taken from Coffee, Irwin and Lowndes Counties.
Named for U.S. Senator Judge John MacPherson Berrien (781-1856). The Berrien
County Inferior Court authorized the issue of $5,00 in county scrip in the January term 1867.
$2,000 was to be redeemed 1 April 1868, $2,000 to be
redeemed 1 January 1869 and $1,000 redeemed 1 April 1869. No bills to be issued larger than $10.00 or
less than 25 cents.
